Email Marketing – Best Practices

Sending out your message via email can be a very useful tool. Almost everyone has email these days and reads it on a regular basis. If you have not yet begun an email campaign, or would like tome tips to improve one you currently run, this post is  for you. Keep reading to learn how to successfully use email in your advertising campaigns.

Be sure to not send too many emails. You want each email to make an impact on your customer, but if you send them out too frequently your customers will stop viewing them, or even ask to be removed from your mailing list. Instead of flooding them with information, use emails to inform them of things that they can benefit from. A good rule of thumb is to not send more than one email per week. The only exception to this would be if there was a one day sale or something else that was of a special nature.

Make sure that your emails give the receiver an easy way to opt out of your emails. Even though you do not want someone to unsubscribe to your emails, you do not want to upset them either. Just because they do not want to receive your emails does not mean that they will not continue to be a customer, but if they get annoyed with emails that they cannot stop, they could easily decide to not use your services any longer. It is best to put a link to unsubscribe near the bottom of the email in a decent sized text. The bottom of the page is the standard placement, so it should be easy for your subscriber to find.

Try to have short messages that say a lot. You want them to get the information they need without spending very much time doing so. Ideally, use graphics that are large with large text. Also have colors that contrast well, matching your company’s logo colors if possible. If you are able to get an important message to your clients without taking up a lot of their time you are succeeding in your email marketing campaign. People have very short attention spans these days and many receive a hundred emails a day, so the goal is to stand out in a good way.

Email marketing is a cheap and effective way to connect with your customers. Incorporate these tips into your next marketing campaign.
